Basketball Game Preview: Callaway Chargers vs. Vicksburg Gators

The Callaway Chargers will face off against the Vicksburg Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Callaway's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups.

On Friday, Callaway didn't have too much trouble with Forest Hill as they won 71-53. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Patriots are ranked 144th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Vicksburg made easy work of Ridgeland on Tuesday and carried off a 63-41 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Gators.

Callaway has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Vicksburg, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9.

Callaway took their victory against Vicksburg when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 70-50. In that game, Callaway amassed a halftime lead of 33-11, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
