Baseball Recap: Vista PEAK Prep Has No Trouble Against Aurora Central

Vista PEAK Prep's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Aurora Central Trojans as they made off with a 21-1 win. With that victory, the Bison brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Eli Garcia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Vista PEAK Prep's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't). Garcia was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karter Robertson, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Domenic Montoya, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Vista PEAK Prep hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

The win snapped Vista PEAK Prep's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-7 record. As for Aurora Central, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vista PEAK Prep will welcome Montbello at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The matchup will give the Bison their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Aurora Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Thornton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Aurora Central is facing Thornton at the right time seeing as Thornton is stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
