Baseball Recap: Thornton Academy Victorious

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Thornton Academy had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Gorham Rams. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-9 back in May.

Beck Edgerly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on eight hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brennan Tabor, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Thornton Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4-1 otherwise.

Thornton Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That lines up perfectly with their 13-4-1 record this season. As for Gorham, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-6 record this season.

Thornton Academy will challenge Scarborough at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Red Storm will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. Gorham does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
