Lexington had won seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped up to 5-2 to make it eight. They came out on top against the Winston County Yellowjackets by a score of 29-18. For the Golden Bears, this counts as revenge for the 32-6 win the Yellowjackets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Sawyer Howard threw for 165 yards and one touchdown. Brenton Gray was his top target, picking up 56 receiving yards.

As for Winston County, they now have a losing record of 3-4. They gained 194 more yards on the day, but it was Lexington that made the best use of them.

Despite the loss, Winston County still got an impressive performance from Cameron Aderholt, who rushed for 178 yards and three scores while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. The Yellowjackets also got help from Max Moore, who showed off his sure hands for 86 receiving yards.

Lexington and Winston County will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Golden Bears see the field they'll take on Brooks at 7:00 p.m. on the 16th. As for Winston County, their break will end when they face Tharptown at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
