Basketball Recap: Ragsdale Tigers vs. Grimsley Whirlies
The Ragsdale Tigers pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 88-57 defeat at the hands of Grimsley. Ragsdale has not had much luck with the Whirlies recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Ragsdale's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Patrick Carter, who scored 15 points along with two steals, and Josiah Beatty who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Beatty has scored all season. Cam Wise was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Even though they lost, Ragsdale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Richard Goods was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 16 rebounds for Grimsley. Goods has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last 16 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nick Keith, who scored 15 points along with eight assists.
Ragsdale dropped their record down to 2-18 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Grimsley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Ragsdale will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southeast Guilford is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Grimsley, they will head out on the road to square off against the Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Guilford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 509th, while the Whirlies are ranked 105th).
