Softball Game Preview: East Union Urchins vs. Walnut Wildcats

For the second straight game, East Union will face off against Walnut. The Urchins will head out to face off against the Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. East Union will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

East Union's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Walnut 10-0. Considering the Urchins have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Lucy Cochran, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Walnut off the board. Cochran has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ali Cooper was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Marley Clayton, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

East Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

East Union's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Walnut, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
