Softball Recap: Hancock Takes a Loss

Hancock is still winless after their contest against Northside on Thursday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 14-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Alex Pinal and Alayna Bentley stepped up to the plate in a big way. Pinal went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Bentley scored a run while going 3-for-4. That run was Pinal's first of the season. Chloe Dougherty was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Hancock's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Northside, their win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Hancock is set to square off against their familiar foe Whitney Young at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Northside will take on rival Taft at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
