Baseball Recap: Lafayette Picks Up Sixth Straight Win on the Road

Lafayette was handed a 11-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tupelo Golden Wave, sneaking past 4-2. This was payback for the Commodores, who suffered a 3-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Tanner Harris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on one hit and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lafayette secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Caleb Guest, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Lafayette pushed their record up to 17-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Tupelo, they now have a losing record of 13-14.

Lafayette didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-4 win against Starkville on the 17th. As for Tupelo, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-7 victory against DeSoto Central on the 17th.
