Madisonville proved they can win big last Friday (they won by seven) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Bellville Brahmas 8-6. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Maylynn McCarty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madisonville let Ellie West and Gabby Olivares run wild. West scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3, while Olivares scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Jayci Morriss was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Madisonville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. Bellville's loss dropped their record down to 8-8-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madisonville will take on Rusk at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Bellville, they will face off against Caldwell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
