Volleyball Recap: Hanover Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hanover can now relate to. They fell just short of the Newburyport Clippers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Hawks' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

The 3-2 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Hanover lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-23, 15-12.

Tess Madden paced Hanover's offense, picking up 20 kills. Madden got some help from Sadie Chadwick and her 30 assists. Chadwick was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Hanover suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 18-4. As for Newburyport, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

As of now, neither Hanover nor Newburyport have any future games scheduled.
