Basketball Recap: Emery Bowman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Dakota Ridge over D'evelyn

Dakota Ridge lost against D'Evelyn back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Dakota Ridge Eagles took a 45-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the D'Evelyn Jaguars. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Jaguars are ranked 39th).

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emery Bowman, who posted eight points in addition to seven boards and seven steals. Bowman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Darian Lewis was another key player, going 5 for 11 on her way to 13 points and five rebounds.

D'Evelyn's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Giada Lampert led the charge by putting up 11 points and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Colleen Monahan, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Dakota Ridge has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for D'Evelyn, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.

Dakota Ridge will head out on the road to take on Lakewood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Dakota Ridge is facing Lakewood at the right time seeing as Lakewood is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for D'Evelyn, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Golden at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (D'Evelyn has won 13 straight at home dating back to last season, while Golden won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
