Baseball Game Preview: Blazer Tomcats vs. Lawrence County Bulldogs

The Blazer Tomcats will head out to square off against the Lawrence County Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Raceland hit Blazer with a five-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tomcats took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams. The Tomcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Lawrence County waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since March 25th.

The team relied heavily on Gray Derifield, who earned one run and three stolen bases. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

Lawrence County's victory bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Blazer, their loss dropped their record down to 13-18.

Blazer was able to grind out a solid win over Lawrence County in their previous meeting back in March, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tomcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
