Preview: West Carteret Patriots vs. Swansboro Pirates

West Carteret and Swansboro are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The West Carteret Patriots will be playing at home against the Swansboro Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, West Carteret beat White Oak 46-41.

Sam Huber was her usual excellent self, scoring six points along with ten steals and six rebounds. Huber is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least four every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Holmes, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Swansboro earned a 43-33 win over Richlands on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Swansboro.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Swansboro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Addison King, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Malaya Beasley, who scored four points along with ten rebounds and seven steals.

West Carteret is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Swansboro, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.

West Carteret barely slipped by Swansboro when the teams last played back in January, winning 38-37. Will West Carteret repeat their success, or does Swansboro have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
