Preview: Maxwell Panthers vs. Hamilton Braves
The Maxwell Panthers will play host again and welcome the Hamilton Braves, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Maxwell beat Los Molinos 44-39. The win was just what Maxwell needed coming off of a 72-32 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Hamilton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat CORE Butte 72-38 on the road. The win was some much needed relief for Hamilton as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Hamilton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayden Strong, who scored 28 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Strong has scored at least a third of Hamilton's points. Another player making a difference was Case Porter, who scored 14 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds.
Maxwell's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11. As for Hamilton, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11.
Maxwell was able to grind out a solid win over Hamilton in their previous matchup on January 9th, winning 50-38. Will Maxwell repeat their success, or does Hamilton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
