Football Game Preview: Grace Community Cougars vs. Hyde Park Panthers

The Grace Community Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Hyde Park Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Grace Community has given up an average of 37.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Grace Community is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Regents two weeks ago (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Cougars were beaten by the Knights 56-7. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 758th, while the Knights are ranked 109th).

Meanwhile, Hyde Park waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Falcons, posting a 45-13 win. Considering the Panthers have won four games by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Grace Community better keep an eye on Crawford Moffitt. He was instrumental in Hyde Park's win, rushing for 53 yards and four touchdowns on only five carries, while also throwing for 113 yards and one TD on only ten passes. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Moffitt a new career-high. Brenden Bartholomew was another key player, rushing for 79 yards and one score on only six carries.

Hyde Park's record is now 5-2. As for Grace Community, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Things could have been worse for Grace Community, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 46-28 loss to Hyde Park in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
