Softball Game Preview: Fleming County Panthers vs. Russell Red Devils

The Fleming County Panthers will take on the Russell Red Devils in a tournament on Saturday. Fleming County is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Rowan County hit Fleming County with a six-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers lost 11-1 to the Vikings. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered since March 24th.

Meanwhile, Russell fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Symmes Valley on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 12-8 to the Vikings. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ava Howard made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Madilynn Hayes also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Fleming County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Russell, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.

Fleming County skirted past Russell 8-6 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
