Basketball Preview: Union Farmers vs. Dayton Bulldogs
Union is on a four-game streak of home losses, the Bulldogs a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Union Farmers will take on the Dayton Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Union came up short against the Blue Devils and fell 54-45.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Dayton, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-39 loss to the Pioneers on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Dayton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 318th, while the Pioneers are ranked 67th).
Despite the defeat, Dayton got a solid performance out of Malcolm Jackson, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Jackson scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Marcus Manfredi, who scored nine points.
Union has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Dayton, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 5-13.
Union strolled past the Bulldogs when the teams last played back in February of 2019 by a score of 54-35. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Dayton's Dj Alicea, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds.
