Basketball Recap: Hillside Comes Up Short

Hillside played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the West Charlotte Lions 64-36. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Lions are ranked sixth).

Despite the loss, Hillside still got an impressive performance from Manny Pullium, who posted 13 points. William Bowens was another key player, putting up eight points.

West Charlotte found their leader in sophomore Kaharri Coleman, who shot 53% from the field to rack up 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jkhai Wade, who went 5-for-10 en route to 12 points.

Hillside's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for West Charlotte, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-2.

Hillside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 61-48 defeat against Southern School of Energy and Sustainability on the 19th. As for West Charlotte, they have also already played their next matchup, a 72-54 victory against Butler on the 20th.
