Baseball Recap: Greenwood Has No Trouble Against Woodmont

Greenwood was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Woodmont on Thursday. The Eagles blew past the Wildcats 7-1. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.

Will Bice made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. He has become a key player for Greenwood: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one home run, but 7-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rhett Brown, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Greenwood's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 3-1 (and 8-11 when he doesn't). Bentley Setzler was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Greenwood's victory bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Woodmont, they moved to 10-13 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Greenwood nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
