Baseball Recap: Cherokee Trail Find Success

While Cherokee Trail's victory against Mullen wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 3-2 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won six in a row.

Tate Carlson looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Cherokee Trail: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-13 otherwise.

At the plate, Landon Ellis was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Anderson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Cherokee Trail's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Mullen, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Cherokee Trail will have a chance to go back-to-back against Mullen: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
