Baseball Game Preview: Collinsville Kahoks vs. Carbondale Terriers

The Collinsville Kahoks will take on the Carbondale Terriers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Collinsville and Belleville East, and Belleville East kept the tradition alive. The Kahoks fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 7-5 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Kahoks have suffered against the Lancers since April 26, 2021.

Luke Robinson and Will Swip stepped up to the plate in a big way. Robinson went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Swip got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Robinson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Lucas Owen, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Carbondale fell victim to Civic Memorial and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Terriers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Collinsville has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-18 record this season. As for Carbondale, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.

Everything went Collinsville's way against Carbondale in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Collinsville made off with a 12-1 win. Do the Kahoks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Terriers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
