Baseball Recap: George Washington Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Magna Vista, George Washington was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Martinsville Bulldogs by a score of 4-1. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Bulldogs two weeks ago, they had to take a 15-14 loss.

Dallas Dietz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, George Washington's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Aaron Webb, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Dylan Lynskey also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

George Washington's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-18. As for Martinsville, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. George Washington will square off against Chatham at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Martinsville, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Dan River at 5:30 p.m.
