Basketball Game Preview: Green Hope Falcons vs. Hoke County Bucks

The Green Hope Falcons and the Hoke County Bucks will face off at 2:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

While Green Hope didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took down Western Harnett 59-41 on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Falcons as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Abigail Brown was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Bella Cook, who went 5 of 8 en route to 13 points along with seven boards and three blocks.

Green Hope was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hoke County). They blew past Ascend Leadership, posting a 57-14 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bucks as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Hoke County found their leader in freshman Jada Bowers, who went 7 of 15 on her way to 17 points and five steals. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for Bowers. The team also got some help courtesy of Lailah Crowder, who posted 11 points and six steals.

Green Hope's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Hoke County, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-9.
