Basketball Recap: Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool Gets the Win

Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 60-49 victory over the CHAAMP HomeSchool Hawks on Saturday. This was payback for Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool, who suffered a 51-45 loss the last time these two teams met.

Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool found their leader in sophomore Ethan Brown, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine steals. Another player making a difference was Michael Savage, who shot 56% from the field on his way to 11 points and five steals.

Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as CHAAMP HomeSchool only posted three.

Despite the defeat, CHAAMP HomeSchool saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Caleb Carlisle went 8-for-13 en route to 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Carter Frank was another key player, putting up nine points.

Coincidentally, Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool and CHAAMP HomeSchool will both be playing Shreveport HomeSchool Sports the next time they take the court. CHAAMP HomeSchool will head out to face Shreveport HomeSchool Sports at 10:35 a.m. on Saturday, while Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool will play them later in the day, at 11:45 a.m.
