Football Recap: Porter Comes Up Short at Home Against Talihina

Porter unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Talihina Golden Tigers 34-6 on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Pirates in their meetings with the Golden Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Landen Griffith was a one-man wrecking crew For Talihina. as he rushed for 125 yards and four TDs on only 12 carries, and also threw for 241 yards and one touchdown while completing 75% of his passes. That's the most rushing touchdowns Griffith has posted since back in October of 2024. Gavin Brown also helped out as he racked up 138 rushing yards.

Talihina has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Porter and Talihina will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Pirates see the field they'll take on Warner at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th. As for Talihina, their break will end when they face Non Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on the 18th.
