Football Game Preview: Red Hook Raiders vs. Saugerties Sawyers

The Red Hook Raiders will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Saugerties Sawyers at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Saugerties will be up against a hot Red Hook squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Raiders simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat New Paltz 37-0.

Red Hook found their leader in sophomore Nathan Clum, who threw for 291 yards and three TDs while completing 81.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 80 yards and one score on only five carries.

Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last matchup, Saugerties made sure to put some points up on the board against Liberty on Saturday. The Sawyers claimed a resounding 35-6 win over the Redhawks. The Sawyers' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Red Hook's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Saugerties, their win bumped their record up to an identical 3-0.

Red Hook lost to Saugerties at home by a decisive 21-7 margin when the teams last played back in September of 2023. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
