Mountain View hasn't had much luck against Payson recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Mountain View will challenge Payson at 3:30 p.m. Mountain View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Mountain View is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They fell 8-4 to Uintah.
Miranda Secrist was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Sophie Stoddard was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Payson faced Timpanogos in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Payson fell just short of Timpanogos by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lions have suffered since March 15, 2024.
Allie Callahan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Paisley Beckstead, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Even though they lost, Payson lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matches.
Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Payson, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-2.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Mountain View has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. However, it's not like Payson struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mountain View suffered a grim 18-4 defeat to Payson in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Mountain View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
