Softball Game Preview: Pinellas Park Patriots vs. Boca Ciega Pirates

The Pinellas Park Patriots will face off against the Boca Ciega Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Pinellas Park is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Hollins just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 9-1 to the Royals.

Pinellas Park saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Khloe Birk, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last four contests, Boca Ciega finally came back down to earth last Tuesday. They came up short against Shorecrest Prep, falling 11-0. Like the Patriots, the Pirates also had to let a streak go: they had won four straight, but that streak is no more.

Boca Ciega's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Pinellas Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Pinellas Park took their victory against Boca Ciega in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-4 score. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
