Softball Recap: Richwoods Knights vs. Delavan Panthers

After flying high against Peoria last Monday, Richwoods came back down to earth. The Richwoods Knights lost 10-3 to the Delavan Panthers on Tuesday.

Addison Morrissey was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off three hits. Morrissey was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Morrissey wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Abby Ochoa, who went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI. Sophie Gorrell was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Like Richwoods, Delavan also got a great game from a two-way player: Lainey Klokkenga. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Klokkenga has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive pitching appearances. Klokkenga was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
