Softball Game Preview: Monmouth United Red Storm vs. Orion Chargers

Monmouth United is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Orion a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Monmouth United Red Storm will host the Orion Chargers at 4:30 p.m. Monmouth United has given up an average of 13.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monmouth United is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on West Prairie with a sharp 26-16 win on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Red Storm considering their one-run performance the match before.

Ava Westart was a standout: she scored six runs and stole two bases while getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Lair, who got on base in six of her seven plate appearances with six RBI, three runs, and one double.

Monmouth United always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Orion lost 13-2 to Peoria Notre Dame on Saturday.

Orion saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Wesley, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That RBI was Wesley's first of the season.

Orion's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Monmouth United, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-8.
