Softball Recap: Troy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Troy dropped their record down to 12-6-1 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Towanda Black Knights by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Trojans have suffered since April 26th.

As for Towanda, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

For Towanda's part, Tae Lynn Brabant spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Towanda's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Aleah Johnson, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits Johnson has posted since back in April. Kynlee Kunkle was another, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Troy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Towanda, they will be playing at home against Athens at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Black Knights 3.1, the Wildcats 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
