Softball Recap: Chaparral Wolverines vs. Mead Mavericks
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Eaglecrest, Chaparral was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Mead Mavericks with a sharp 13-5 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wolverines as it put an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Ashlyn Burgess was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. Molly Weber was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and a double.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Chaparral was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. The last time their batting average was this high was back in September of 2023.
The victory got Chaparral back to even at 1-1.
Chaparral will square off against Grand Junction Central at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Chaparral is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season. As for Mead, they will take on Fossil Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Mead will come in still looking for their first win of the season.
