Baseball Recap: Southwest Comes Up Short

Southwest extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-15 in the process. They fell 5-0 to the Jasper Eagles. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Jasper, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games.

For Jasper's part, Carson Lehman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lehman was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Treyton Ritchhart, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwest will take on Wheaton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Jasper, they will face off against Purdy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
