Basketball Recap: Burkeville Takes a Loss

Burkeville played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 96-32 loss at the hands of the Brookeland Wildcats. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost eight in a row.

Brookeland was led to victory by Landon Smith and Cade Morgan. Smith dropped a double-double on 46 points and ten rebounds, while Morgan dropped a double-double on 23 points and 19 boards. Smith's evening made it 14 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zack Beatty, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points.

Burkeville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Brookeland, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Burkeville will host Spurger at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Brookeland, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Brookeland Wildcats face off against the High Island Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
