Football Game Preview: Sterling Rangers vs. Barbers Hill Eagles

Sterling is 0-4 against Barbers Hill since August of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Rangers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Sterling is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Sterling took a 45-point defeat the last time they faced off against Ball, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rangers slipped by the Tornadoes 21-20 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Barbers Hill really took it to Lufkin for the full four quarters, racking up a 35-7 win. The Eagles pushed the score to 27-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers had little chance of recovering from.

Barbers Hill's win came from a few key players Sterling will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tripp Davis, who picked up 66 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 34 yards. Another player making a difference was Brady Barrier, who threw for 143 yards and two touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Barbers Hill's defense and their five sacks. In that department, Bryce Jackson was the leader with two.

Barbers Hill's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Sterling, their win bumped their record up to an identical 4-1.

Sterling was taken down by Barbers Hill 65-7 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Rangers were down 44-7.
