Baseball Game Preview: West Cabarrus Wolverines vs. Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls

West Cabarrus is 1-6 against Hickory Ridge since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wolverines will host the Ragin' Bulls at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

West Cabarrus took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against A.L. Brown, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolverines narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Wonders 4-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wolverines as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Will Hollmeyer made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Hollmeyer was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Hollmeyer wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Antonio Estevez, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Hickory Ridge made easy work of West Stanly on Friday and carried off an 8-2 win. The Ragin' Bulls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Hickory Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for West Cabarrus, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.

West Cabarrus suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Hickory Ridge in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
