Basketball Game Preview: St. John's Catholic Prep Vikings vs. Severn School Admirals

St. John's Catholic Prep has gone 7-2 against Severn School recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The St. John's Catholic Prep Vikings will venture away from home to square off against the Severn School Admirals at 5:30 p.m.

Last Saturday, St. John's Catholic Prep came up short against Mount de Sales Academy and fell 51-42. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Sailors are ranked 33rd).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Samantha Shively, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. What's more, she also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Olivia Bolduc, who posted 14 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Severn School beat Springdale Prep 57-49 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Admirals.

St. John's Catholic Prep dropped their record down to 5-13 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Severn School, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

St. John's Catholic Prep came up short against Severn School when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 61-54. Can St. John's Catholic Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
