Basketball Game Preview: Summerfield Waldorf Mustangs vs. Rio Lindo Adventist Spartans

The Summerfield Waldorf Mustangs are taking a road trip to face off against the Rio Lindo Adventist Spartans at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Summerfield Waldorf is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. Everything went their way against Napa Christian on Tuesday as Summerfield Waldorf made off with a 69-48 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Mustangs have posted against the Knights since February 13, 2017.

Meanwhile, Rio Lindo Adventist came tearing into Monday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 60-46 victory over the Crusaders.

Summerfield Waldorf better focus on containing Jordan Campbell and Jhordany Barcenas as the pair were huge in Rio Lindo Adventist's win. Campbell posted 18 points in addition to eight boards and three steals, while Barcenas went 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points along with eight boards and three steals. The matchup was Campbell's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of MJ Lepulu, who put up eight points and nine rebounds.

Rio Lindo Adventist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 17 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Rio Lindo Adventist's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Summerfield Waldorf, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
