Softball Recap: Muir Mustangs vs. Academy of Careers & Exploration Eagle
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Muir had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They blew past the Academy of Careers & Exploration Eagle 23-3. Muir's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Gianna (GiGi) Butler was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Butler was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Abigail (Abi) Milton was a standout: she got on base in five of her six plate appearances with a home run, three runs, and three RBI. Gabriella (Gabby) Milton was another key contributor, going 4-for-6 with three runs, three RBI, and a triple.
On Academy of Careers & Exploration's side, Addison Shockley (2026). C/OF/CF was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
