Baseball Recap: Sumner Has No Trouble Against Yelm

The Sumner Spartans made easy work of the Yelm Tornados on Friday and carried off an 8-2 win. Considering the Spartans have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sumner has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Yelm, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Sumner will be playing in front of their home fans against Puyallup at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Yelm, they will head out on the road to challenge Spanaway Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tornados are facing the Sentinels at the right time seeing as the Sentinels are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
