Basketball Game Preview: Broadwater Academy Vikings vs. Denbigh Baptist Christian Minutemen

The Broadwater Academy Vikings are taking a road trip to face off against the Denbigh Baptist Christian Minutemen at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Broadwater Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Denbigh Baptist Christian will be coming in after a loss.

On Friday, Broadwater Academy didn't have too much trouble with Portsmouth Christian as they won 49-32. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Broadwater Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Leah Smith, who posted nine points along with eight boards and six steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Elana Hickman also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Meanwhile, Denbigh Baptist Christian ended up a good deal behind Atlantic Shores Christian on Friday and lost 50-32. While the Minutemen didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Seahawks 14-8 in the first quarter.

Broadwater Academy will need focus on slowing down Julia Kinney, one of several Denbigh Baptist Christian players who made an impact when they last played. She scored 18 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Khalia Boyd, who earned four points and five rebounds.

Broadwater Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Denbigh Baptist Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Broadwater Academy came up short against Denbigh Baptist Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 38-26. Thankfully for Broadwater Academy, Payten Gary (who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
