Volleyball Recap: Cardinal Spellman Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Cardinal Spellman extended their home winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Lily Carey. The Cardinals blew past the Bishop Stang Spartans 3-0 on Thursday thanks in part to Carey, who had ten digs. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Cardinal Spellman's got stronger as the match went on, holding Bishop Stang to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-14, 25-11.

Bishop Stang lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Anna Higgins, who had 15 digs and two aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Alves, who had eight digs and eight assists.

The win got Cardinal Spellman back to even at 6-6. As for Bishop Stang, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Cardinal Spellman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Ursuline Academy on the 3rd. As for Bishop Stang, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Dighton-Rehoboth Regional on the 4th.
