Recap: Catholic Central Crusaders vs. Frontier Cougars

The Catholic Central Crusaders were the 34-32 winner over the Frontier Cougars when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Catholic Central fell 45-35 to Frontier on Saturday. That's two games in a row now that Catholic Central has lost by exactly ten points.

Catholic Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ella Maragos, who scored 11 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Anna Arai, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds.

Morgan Haught was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds for Frontier. Haught is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Bowersock, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and four steals.

Catholic Central has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Frontier, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Catholic Central will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Monroe Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. Monroe Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Catholic Central in Ohio (Monroe Central is ranked 119th, while Catholic Central is ranked 411th). As for Frontier, they will head out on the road to face off against River at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. River has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 859 points over their last 13 matchups.
