Baseball Recap: Doherty Takes a Loss

If Doherty was riding high fresh off their 15-4 takedown of Rampart last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Spartans fell just short of the Liberty Lancers by a score of 9-8 on Monday. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lancers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Doherty got a massive performance out of Crew Miller, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was Miller's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Derek Graham, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Doherty moved to 5-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Liberty, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-7.

While Doherty had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
