Softball Recap: Elizabeth Forward Wins Going Away Against Notre Dame Academy

Elizabeth Forward's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Notre Dame Academy Gators with a sharp 17-3 victory.

Julia Johnson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Julia Resnik was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Berlyn Holibaugh was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Elizabeth Forward now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Notre Dame Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elizabeth Forward will head out to square off against Yough at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Notre Dame Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge St. Joseph Hill Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup will give Notre Dame Academy their first taste of in-conference action this season.
