League recap: Westminster Christian extends winning streak with victory over Key West

Westminster Christian added to the longest winning streak in 3A District 8 this week by beating Key West, 50-6. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Warriors.

Westminster Christian took down the Conchs 50-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jordan Cronkrite ran for 255 yards during the win.

Sedrick Irvin's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Hunter Boyett threw for 270 and 1 touchdown and Devonaire Clarington had 113 yards receiving. On the ground Cronkrite chipped in 255 yards. Elbre Gaiter helped Westminster Christian's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 65 yards.

Cronkrite was a force in the backfield as the Warriors topped Key West.

Cronkrite was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Albert Delsol added to the ground attack by rushing for 75 yards.

Westminster Christian's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Warriors feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Boyett has thrown for 1,853 yards and 20 touchdowns this season, while Clarington has 32 catches for 609 yards.

Going into this week's game against St. Edward's, Westminster Christian's Boyett needs 147 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.

Chaminade-Madonna made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,865 from 7,088. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 46-7 victory over Inlet Grove last week.
