Volleyball Recap: Roncalli Picks Up 20th Consecutive Victory

Roncalli had already won 19 in a row and they went ahead and made it 20 on Saturday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Cathedral Fighting Irish. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in April.

Leading Roncalli to victory were Matthew Dial and Aiden Hill. Dial had 19 assists and three digs, while Hill had six digs and one assist. Dial has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more assists the last 64 times he's played.

Despite the defeat, Cathedral saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jake Werne had ten digs and one assist.

Roncalli's win bumped their record up to 23-3. As for Cathedral, they moved to 25-5 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Roncalli and Cathedral should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Royals will take on New Palestine at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (1 vs. 27). Meanwhile, Cathedral (ranked third) will meet New Castle (ranked 124th) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
