Preview: Casa Roble Rams vs. Rio Linda Knights
Casa Roble is 3-0 against Rio Linda since January of 2023, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Casa Roble Rams will head out on the road to take on the Rio Linda Knights at 7:30 p.m. Casa Roble knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 22 contests -- so hopefully Rio Linda likes a good challenge.
Casa Roble scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 90-58 win over Woodland. Given Casa Roble's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 379th, while Woodland is ranked 1193rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Casa Roble's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Travis Remly, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Benny Ambriz, who scored 27 points along with three steals. Ambriz has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 15 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Scott, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Rio Linda had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top against Dixon by a score of 67-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Casa Roble is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Rio Linda, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-14.
Casa Roble strolled past Rio Linda in their previous meeting on January 2nd by a score of 77-59. The rematch might be a little tougher for Casa Roble since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
