Basketball Recap: Valley Comes Up Short

Valley was the 50-41 winner over St. Paul Lutheran when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Valley Vikings had to suffer through a 53-23 loss at the hands of the St. Paul Lutheran Giants. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 497th, while the Giants are ranked 221st).

Brooklyn Weibrecht was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds for St. Paul Lutheran. Weibrecht is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gwyn Keddy, who posted seven points and four steals.

Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for St. Paul Lutheran, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.

Valley will take on Bismarck at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Paul Lutheran has already played their next contest, a 61-43 defeat against Arcadia Valley on the 21st.
