Cherokee Trail picks up tenth straight win on the road

Recap: Cherokee Trail Cougars vs. Cherry Creek Bruins

On Wednesday, the Cherokee Trail Cougars faced the Cherry Creek Bruins in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cherokee Trail secured a 61-55 W over Cherry Creek. Winning may never get old, but Cherokee Trail sure is getting used to it with their tenth in a row.

Cherokee Trail's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Damara Allen, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Madeline Gibbs, who scored 11 points along with two steals.

Despite the loss, Cherry Creek still got an impressive performance from Tianna Chambers, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Chambers has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. Braelynn Barnett was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Cherokee Trail's win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for Cherry Creek, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-3.

Cherokee Trail does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cherry Creek, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Overland at 5:30 p.m. Overland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Cherry Creek is ranked third).
